CORPORATE ANGEL AWARD HONORS
FORD MOTOR COMPANY
White Plains, New York, January 10, 2003 - Corporate Angel Network,
a national charity organization that arranges free flights for cancer
patients on corporate planes, announced today that Ford Motor Company
will receive the Corporate Angel Award.
Established in 2001 by ChevronTexaco and Business & Commercial
Aviation magazine (B/CA), the quarterly award recognizes corporations
for their outstanding dedication to cancer patients as participants
in Corporate Angel Network.
The 2003 First Quarter Corporate Angel Award honors Ford and its
flight department for almost two decades of devoted and highly responsive
service to cancer patients. Since becoming a participant in 1983,
Ford has touched countless families by flying numerous patients
to cancer treatment centers across the country. The company logged
26 such flights in 2002 alone, using both its shuttle and executive
aircraft.
ChevronTexaco will recognize Ford with a full-page advertisement
in the February issue of B/CA, $5,000 worth of ChevronTexaco aviation
fuel, and a plaque commemorating the award.
"For 20 years, Ford has been providing a great service to many
cancer patients and bone marrow donors by opening its executive
flights to those needing specialized treatment," said Bonnie
LeVar, Executive Director of Corporate Angel Network. "Ford
truly understands the meaning of corporate citizenship."
Rick Schwartz, executive director of Ford Flight, acknowledged the
award, saying, "On behalf of Ford's entire flight department,
we are honored to receive this recognition. Corporate Angel Network
is a great organization. Through their efficient coordination, we
are able to participate by providing transportation on our flights.
Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) is the world's second largest automaker,
with approximately 335,000 employees in 200 markets on six continents.
Its automotive brands include Aston Martin, Ford, Jaguar, Land Rover,
Lincoln, Mazda, Mercury and Volvo. Its automotive-related services
include Ford Credit, Quality Care, Kwik-Fit and Hertz.
With world headquarters in Dearborn, Michigan, Ford Motor Company
will officially observe its 100th anniversary on June 16, 2003.
Additional information can be found on the company's web site at
www.ford.com.
Business & Commercial Aviation magazine, which donates its
income from the advertisement to Corporate Angel Network, has served
the business aviation community since 1958.
"We've grown up with the turbine age, providing safety and
operational information to corporate operators" said Publisher
Gil Wolin. "The Corporate Angel Award enables us to take a
more active role in supporting corporate aviation in serving the
community at large. There are few people today whose lives have
not been touched by cancer, including many at our publication. That's
why every individual at B/CA - from editor to sales rep to production
and administrative personnel - is proud of our involvement in Corporate
Angel Network."
ChevronTexaco, a long-time participant in Corporate Angel Network
and one of its staunchest supporters, ranks among the world's largest
global energy companies. The firm is active in more than 180 countries,
and is involved in all energy sectors, including exploration and
production, refining and marketing, power, and chemicals. ChevronTexaco
Global Aviation is a leading fuel and services provider to the Business
Jet market with over 650 FBOs in the United States.
Founded in 1981 and based in White Plains, New York, Corporate Angel
Network (www.CorpAngelNetwork.org), consists of more than 500 leading
U.S. corporations, including more than half of the Fortune 100.
Since its inception 21 years ago, Corporate Angel Network has grown
to a team of 60 part-time volunteers and six paid staff working
with patients, physicians, corporate flight departments and leading
treatment centers to coordinate medical travel needs of cancer victims.
To date, the network has arranged nearly 16,000 flights.
