NetJets Fractional Owner Don Imus
Joins Corporate Angel Network
FIRST FRACTIONAL OWNER TO JOIN NATIONAL CORPORATIONS IN
FLYING CANCER PATIENTS TO TREATMENT
WHITE PLAINS, NY - Don Imus, the widely acclaimed radio personality
whose program is simulcast live on cable network MSNBC, has become
the first fractional aircraft owner to become a participant in Corporate
Angel Network, the national public charity that arranges free transportation
for cancer patients to treatment centers using empty seats on corporate
aircraft flying on routine business.
"We welcome Imus to our network and are confident that other
fractional owners will follow his lead and join executives from
top corporations throughout the country in giving cancer patients
a lift," said Thomas Robertazzi, executive director of Corporate
Angel Network.
"I am delighted to be part of Corporate Angel Network",
said Imus, who with his wife Deirdre runs a nonprofit working cattle
ranch in New Mexico for children with cancer. "We always have
room on our flights and are happy to give a lift to a cancer patient
in need of treatment. Corporate Angel Network recently flew one
of our kids from the ranch. I found the program rewarding, efficient,
and hassle-free. This is a wonderful program and I'm happy to be
a part of it. I think all fractional owners should sign up."
NetJets, Inc. Chairman Richard T. Santulli agreed, saying, "We
are delighted to see that Don Imus has offered the utilization of
his NetJets aircraft to support Corporate Angel Network. We hope
additional NetJet owners will consider doing the same in the future."
Factional ownership programs like NetJets allow individuals and
corporations to purchase a share of an aircraft based on how many
hours the owner expects to fly annually, with all the benefits of
private business aircraft at a fraction of the cost of whole aircraft
ownership. Fractional companies and their shareowners have generously
supported Corporate Angel Network over the years through cash donations
and contributions of flight time. Now, with Imus as the first fractional
owner to join the program, Corporate Angel Network expects other
fractional owners to follow.
Corporate Angel Network (www.CorpAngelNetwork.org) is a national
public charity with only one mission, to provide cancer patients
with access to specialized treatment by arranging free flights using
the empty seats on corporate aircraft traveling on routine business.
Since its inception in 1981, Corporate Angel Network has coordinated
nearly 15,000 flights for cancer patients aboard member company
aircraft and won numerous awards for volunteerism, including two
presidential citations. Corporate Angel Network operates out of
donated office space at Westhester County Airport with 5 employees,
60 dedicated volunteers, and 500 participating corporations, including
56 of the top 100 in the Fortune 500. These companies recognize
that flying with vacant seats is an enormous opportunity to help
cancer patients win their battle.
NetJets Inc. (http://www.netjets.com), founded in 1964 as the first
private business jet transportation company offering charter and
aircraft management services, pioneered the concept of fractional
aircraft ownership in 1986 and today is world leader in fractional
aircraft ownership. This year NetJets will fly over 200,000 flights
to more than 140 countries. NetJets directly manages and operates
449 aircraft and has nearly 565 planes on order, including 100 for
delivery this year. In 1998 NetJets was purchased by Warren Buffett's
Berkshire Hathaway, one of the most financially successful companies
in the world today.
