RECORD 2002 FOR
CORPORATE ANGEL NETWORK
White Plains, New York, February 4, 2003 - At a time when America
was in recession, layoffs were abundant, retirement funds were
shrinking, and the aviation industry was feeling the pinch, Corporate
Angel Network had it's best year ever. The national public charity
that arranges free flights to treatment for cancer patients by
using the empty seats on corporate aircraft, announced a 47% increase
in the number of cancer patients it was able to transport to critical
treatment in 2002. 1,588 cancer patients were flown to treatment
averaging 132 patients flown per month.
"We're excited by this dramatic increase in the number of
people we've been able to help," said Bonnie LeVar, Executive
Director of Corporate Angel Network. "and thankful for the
generosity of our participating corporations and the hard work
of our 60 part-time volunteers. With 159 flights this January,
it looks like we're off to a 'flying' start in 2003 as well."
Corporate Angel Network, founded in 1981 and based in White Plains,
NY, has coordinated nearly 16,000 flights and includes over 500
of America's finest corporations in its network. These companies
recognize that providing air transportation to cancer patients
is a perfect opportunity to merge business activities with corporate
social responsibility and to help cancer patients win their battle.
