Flying Magazine Raises $28,000 for Corporate Angel
Network
Cancer Survivor/CAN Participant Wins Dodge Dakota
and BPR Sea-Doo during NBAA
White Plains NY, (immediate)—A major highlight of
the National Business Aviation Association’s (NBAA) Annual Meeting
and Convention each year is the Corporate Angel Network benefit
raffle produced in partnership with FLYING Magazine and NBAA which,
for the eleventh year running, benefited Corporate Angel Network
(CAN), the national public charity that partners with corporations
and fractional owners to transport cancer patients to treatment
centers using empty seats on routine corporate flights.
Flying Magazine Senior Editor Tom Benenson drew the
winning ticket before a crowd of onlookers as the convention drew
to a close. The winner was Greg Cook, President of Makanda IL based
Cook Sales, Inc. Greg is a cancer survivor whose company participants
in Corporate Angel Network. He is an ATP, has over 4,000 hours,
and is type-rated in his company’s Citation Ultra.
Greg Cook won the use of a Dodge Dakota pickup truck
and a BRP, Sea-Doo RXT Watercraft. Both were a strong draw to FLYING’s
exhibit and resulted in the purchase $28,000 in tickets to benefit
Corporate Angel Network. “This represents a meaningful contribution
to CAN,” said Peter Fleiss, Corporate Angel Network’s Executive
Director. “The contribution that FLYING Magazine makes each year
by organizing and managing this Raffle is instrumental in our ability
to continue to help cancer patients. We are extremely grateful for
their support.”
“The CAN benefit annual raffle has raised more than
$550,000 for Corporate Angel Network over the last eleven NBAA shows”
said Dick Koenig, Vice President and Publisher of Flying Magazine.
“That couldn't happen without the generous support of NBAA and BPR,
along with the unselfish offerings of aviation photographer Paul
Bowen, Aviation International News and Business & Commercial Aviation
show dailies, and of course, all those in the aviation industry
who generously purchased tickets. It is a team effort in support
of CAN.”
Corporate Angel Network arranges free flights for
cancer patients using the empty seats on corporate aircraft. Since
its founding nearly 25 years ago, CAN has grown to include 530 participating
corporations, five paid staff, and a team of 50 part-time volunteers
who work with patients, physicians, corporate flight departments,
and leading treatment centers to coordinate medical travel needs
of cancer patients with the scheduled flight activity of participating
corporations. To date, CAN has arranged more than 22,000 flights
and currently provides about 200 patient flights per month. CAN
has received numerous awards in recognition of its service to cancer
patients, including The Volunteer Action Award, the highest volunteer
award from the President of the United States. For more information
