Flying Magazine Raffle Raises $22,000 for Corporate
Angel Network
Cancer Survivor/CAN Participant Draws Winning
Ticket
White Plains NY, (immediate)—A major highlight of
the National Business Aviation Association’s (NBAA) Annual Meeting
and Convention each year is the Corporate Angel Network benefit
raffle produced in partnership with FLYING Magazine and NBAA which,
for the twelfth year running, benefited Corporate Angel Network
(CAN), the national public charity that partners with corporations
and fractional owners to transport cancer patients to treatment
centers using empty seats on corporate flights.
Last year’s winner Greg Cook, a cancer survivor whose
company Cook Sales, Inc. is a CAN participant, drew the winning
ticket before a crowd of onlookers as the convention drew to a close.
Larry Fine of Huntsville, Alabama won the use of
a Mazda Miata MX-5 convertible which was a strong draw to FLYING’s
exhibit and resulted in the purchase $22,000 in tickets to benefit
Corporate Angel Network. “This represents a meaningful contribution
to CAN,” said Peter Fleiss, Corporate Angel Network’s Executive
Director. “The contribution that FLYING Magazine makes each year
by organizing and managing this Raffle is instrumental in our ability
to continue to help cancer patients. We are extremely grateful for
their support.”
“The CAN benefit annual raffle has raised more than
$575,000 for Corporate Angel Network over the last twelve NBAA shows”
said Dick Koenig, Vice President and Publisher of Flying Magazine.
“That couldn't happen without the generous support of NBAA, along
with the unselfish offerings of aviation photographer Paul Bowen,
Aviation International News and Business & Commercial Aviation show
dailies, and of course, all those in the aviation industry who generously
purchased tickets. It is a team effort in support of CAN.”
Corporate Angel Network arranges free flights for
cancer patients using the empty seats on corporate aircraft. Since
its founding 25 years ago, CAN has grown to include 530 participating
corporations, five paid staff, and a team of 50 part-time volunteers
who work with patients, physicians, corporate flight departments,
and leading treatment centers to coordinate medical travel needs
of cancer patients with the scheduled flight activity of participating
corporations. To date, CAN has arranged nearly 25,000 flights and
currently provides more than 200 patient flights per month. CAN
has received numerous awards in recognition of its service to cancer
patients, including The Volunteer Action Award, the highest volunteer
award from the President of the United States. For more information

FLYING Magazine, has been a partner and loyal supporter
of Corporate Angel Network since the early 90s when FLYING’s best
read editor, Gordon Baxter, spread the Corporate Angel Network story
to his millions of readers in its July issue.
