Chevron Global Aviation, NBAA, Safe Flight Instrument
Corporation, and Business & Commercial Aviation Magazine Show Their
Support for Cancer Patients
Corporate Angel Award Co-Sponsors Donate $22,000
to Corporate Angel Network
Orlando FL, (Immediate)—Corporate Angel Network, the
national public charity which provides free air transportation for
cancer patients traveling to treatment by using empty seats on routine
corporate and fractional aircraft, received a $22,000 donation from
the co-sponsors of the Corporate Angel Award. Tom Henricks, President,
McGraw Hill’s AVIATION WEEK presented the check to Peter Fleiss,
Corporate Angel Network’s Executive Director, during the NBAA 59th
Annual Meeting & Convention in Orlando, FL. Corporate Angel Award
co-sponsors Ed Bolin, President, NBAA; Doug Hinzie, President Chevron
Global Aviation, and Randall Greene, President & CEO, Safe Flight
Instrument Corporation and also Chairman of Corporate Angel Network
took part in the presentation, along with award-winning, flight
department representatives: David Newell, Director of Aviation,
VF Corporation; and Gerard Archambault, Senior Captain, Textron.
The Corporate Angel Award recognizes Corporate Angel
Network (CAN) participating corporations and flight departments
for their exceptional contributions to cancer patients. Each flight
department is acknowledged with a full-page ad in Business & Commercial
Aviation magazine (B/CA) and receipt of $2,500 worth of Chevron
aviation fuel. B/CA donates the ads’ net proceeds to Corporate Angel
Network. This year’s recipients were: VF Corporation, Yum! Brands,
Altria Group, and Textron.
The award, initiated in 2001, is co-sponsored by Chevron
Global Aviation, NBAA, Safe Flight Instrument Corporation, and Business
& Commercial Aviation magazine (B/CA).
This award salutes the successful merger of business
activity with social responsibility. Previous Corporate Angel Award
winners include: Corning, Inc., American Home Products, International
Products, Schering-Plough, Dow Chemical, Flight Options, Inc., The
401K Company, Verizon, The Ford Motor Company, LimitedBrands, ConocoPhillips,
PepsiCo, America Online, Inc., AT&T, Bristol-Myers Squibb, The Coca-Cola
Company, ConAgra Foods, Wachovia Corporation, Honeywell, and Duke
Energy.
Corporate Angel Network arranges free flights to treatment
for cancer patients using the empty seats on routine business flights.
Since its founding nearly 25 years ago, CAN has grown to include
530 participating corporations, five paid staff, and a team of 50
part-time volunteers who work with patients, physicians, corporate
flight departments, and leading treatment centers to coordinate
medical travel needs of cancer patients with the scheduled flight
activity of participating corporations. To date, CAN has arranged
nearly 25,000 flights and currently provides more than 200 patient
flights a month. CAN has received numerous awards in recognition
of its service to cancer patients, including The Volunteer Action
Award, the highest volunteer award from the President of the United
