INTERNATIONAL PAPER RECEIVES
WESTACOTT PAINTING AWARD AT NBAA
White Plains, NY - On September 10th, in what has become an annual
tradition, the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) honored
a member company for using its business aircraft to help Corporate
Angel Network transport cancer patients in need of medical treatment.
This year's awardee, the International Paper Company, has been
part of Corporate Angel Network since 1983 and during that time
has flown more than 200 patients to distant treatment facilities.
Many of these patients could not have received the critical treatment
needed without International Paper's generous support.
To commemorate International Paper's outstanding contribution
to Corporate Angel Network, John Zimmerman, Founder, Chairman
and CEO of AVDATAINC of Wichita, KS, arranged for the noted English
aviation and maritime artist Peter R. Westacott to create an original
painting depicting one of the company's plants with three of its
Falcon Jets flying in formation overhead.
Jack Olcott, NBAA president, presented the painting to Wayne Dodds,
Director of Aviation and Chief Pilot for International Paper,
at the President's Luncheon during the NBAA'a annual meeting and
convention, held this year in Orlando, FL. Peter Westacott, who
is now also the President and COO of AVDATAINC, unveiled the painting
as part of the ceremony.
International Paper's longtime support of Corporate Angel Network
has also included services above and beyond the invaluable provision
of empty seats for cancer patients. John T. Dillon, Chairman and
Chief Executive Officer, has personally endorsed the program several
times and appears on the Network's video, giving a huge boost
to ongoing publicity and public relations efforts. In addition,
immediately after the terrorist attacks of September 11th, International
Paper took part in a Corporate Angel Network-coordinated mission
to fly blood samples from the northeast to several labs in Florida,
the only place where necessary testing could be accomplished,
so that the donated blood could be used during the national emergency.
Corporate Angel Network (www.corpangelnetwork.org) is a public
charity that arranges free air transportation aboard corporate
and fractionally owned aircraft for cancer patients traveling
to treatment. For further information or to become a participant,
please call 914-328-1313 or see the organization's website: http://www.corpangelnetwork.org.
