CORNING EXCEEDS RECORD 1500 FLIGHTS FOR
CORPORATE ANGEL NETWORK
With Corporate Angel Network

WHITE PLAINS, NY, June 28, 2001– Corporate Angel Network today announced that Corning, Inc. has flown a record number of flights carrying cancer patients to critical treatment aboard its corporate jets. This “Corporate Angel” has flown over 1,500 missions, setting a precedent for other companies.

Corporate Angel Network is the only non-profit charitable organization in the United States exclusively partnering with corporations to provide free air transportation for cancer patients traveling to treatment centers, by using the empty seats on their corporate aircraft flying on routine business.

“Corning, Inc. has been the ideal ‘Corporate Angel’ from the day the company joined our organization in 1983,” notes Thomas Robertazzi, Corporate Angel Network’s executive director. “Corning always goes the extra mile for our patients. They allow our patients to schedule trips up to six weeks in advance and have never had to cancel a flight. That alone gives patients tremendous peace of mind.
“Furthermore, when another ‘Corporate Angel’ cancelled their shuttle service last year, Corning responded by increasing the number of available flights.”

Established in 1851, Corning Incorporated (www.corning.com) creates leading-edge optical fiber, cable and photonic technologies for the telecommunications industry; and high-performance displays and components for television and other communications-related industries. The company also uses advanced materials to manufacture products for scientific, semiconductor and environmental markets. Corning’s revenues in 2000 were $7.1 billion.

Corporate Angel Network (www.corpangelnetwork.org) is a non-profit, national organization with only one mission—to arrange free air transportation for cancer patients traveling to treatment centers, using the empty seats on corporate aircraft. Since its inception in 1981, Corporate Angel Network has arranged for cancer patients to travel on nearly 14,000 regularly scheduled corporate flights. Corporate Angel Network has attracted more than 500 of America's best corporations into its network, including 56 of the Fortune 100. These corporations recognize that flying with vacant seats is a perfect opportunity to help cancer patients win their battle while, at the same time, merging business activities with corporate social responsibilities.
