CORPORATE ANGEL NETWORK AND
FLIGHT OPTIONS FLY 16 YEAR OLD WITH BRAIN CANCER
White Plains, NY 2/10/02
Corporate Angel Network came to the aid of a 16 year old brain
cancer patient today by arranging for Flight Options, Inc., a Cleveland,
OH based provider of fractional shares in jet aircraft, to fly the
young man to Little Rock, AK for potential life saving surgery. A
Flight Options Beechjet 400A departed from Westchester County Airport
in White Plains, NY today at noon carrying the teenager, for whom
the rigors of commercial air travel -- coupled with exposure to microorganisms
in crowded terminals and on a packed flight -- would pose a health
risk.
Flight Options donated ten hours of occupied flight time to Corporate
Angel Network in December, of which this trip was a portion. "Our
fractional owners are delighted to donate flight time to such a worthy
cause,” said Kenn Ricci, Chairman & CEO for Flight Options. œThe work
Corporate Angel Network does is truly a special gift."
Corporate Angel Network transports about 100 cancer patients a month.
The national organization heard of the patient's plight from radio/TV
personality, Don Imus, whose working ranch for children with cancer
hosted the teenager last summer. Over the air, Imus discussed the
boyÃs problem and the need to transport him to Little Rock to see
the one specialist in the country experienced in the required surgery.
The teenager was accompanied by his mother and Imus show comedian,
Rob Bartlett, who is a family friend. Seeing the patient off today
were Don Imus, his wife Deirdre, and Corporate Angel Network's Liz
Lockwood and Peter Fleiss.
Corporate Angel Network (www.corpangelnetwork.org) is the non-profit,
national organization that arranges free air transportation aboard
corporate aircraft for cancer patients traveling to and from treatment.
Since its inception in 1981, the organization has coordinated more
than 14,000 flights and attracted 500 of America's best corporations
into its network, including 56 of the top 100 in the Fortune 500.
These companies recognize that flying with vacant seats is a tremendous
opportunity to help cancer patients win their battle. The organization
may be contacted at (914) 328-1313 or at info@corpangelnetwork.org.
Corporate Angel Network is now expanding its network to include fractional
owners, who are beginning to realize the great service they can offer
cancer patients by providing an empty seat on their scheduled flights.
Don Imus is the first fractional owner to participate. Flight Options
was the first fractional operator to donate flight time to Corporate
Angel Network, making their first contribution a Christmas present
in 1999. Founded in 1998, Flight Options pioneered the concept of
offering shares in previously owned jets, thus reducing the cost and
opening private jet travel to a broader audience. Following the merger
with Raytheon Travel Air in March, the company will offer new and
pre-owned fractional shares in its fleet of over 200 aircraft.
